If you’re working as an agency on behalf of your clients to offer Done For You LinkedIn services, and you don’t want to hassle your clients to complete the Aware onboarding process, you’ll need to complete a short extra step before adding them as a user: creating a new Chrome Profile. This takes less than 30 seconds to do, and ensures that the correct client LinkedIn profiles will be synced to the correct client Aware accounts.

Overall Goal: For context, the main purpose of the Aware Chrome Extension is to grab the login session cookie of whoever is currently logged into LinkedIn in that browser window, and bring that data into Aware. Naturally, if you're logging into multiple LinkedIn accounts at once, you want to avoid 'swapping' your clients' LinkedIn account details with your own Aware account, or with another of your clients. So, we'll use Chrome Profiles to keep things separate. This article explains how.

Instructions #1 (EASY / CLIENT DOES IT):

First, go to Account. Then, click on Users. Then, type their email and hit "Send Invitation".

What happens then, from the client's perspective?

  1. They'll get an invitation by email

  2. They should accept the invite

  3. Then they install the Chrome Extension, while logged into LinkedIn

  4. Within seconds, we'll be connected to their profile

That's the simplest way to do it.

But now, let's say you DON'T want to have to have your client manage this.

If you want to do this all for them as a white glove service, there's an extra step - you'll instead follow the instructions below.

Instructions #2 (YOU DO IT FOR THEM):

🚨 First, please turn OFF the Aware Chrome Extension in your main browser window!

  1. Go to Account > Users > Invite

Send an invitation to "yourself". Or, the account manager who is going to be responsible for handling the client.

    1. It can't be a duplicate email with one that's already in our system, so you usually want to use the "+" trick, for example:

  2. Log Into a Google Chrome Profile specifically for that one client.

While still in Google Chrome, click your profile picture in the top right corner. Click the “Add…” button at the bottom of this popup:

On the page that follows, click “Continue without an account”

💡 Or, if you already have a Chrome profile set up for this unique client, just Sign In to that!

Assuming you're creating a new profile, type in the client’s name, and upload a profile picture of them if you want to stay organized:

  3. Accept the New User Invitation

Open up your email in a window in this new Chrome Profile, and accept the invitation you sent in Step #1, from here.

  4. Install the Extension In This Chrome Profile

Follow the steps to install the Aware Chrome Extension and activate it. Then open linkedin.com within this Chrome Profile, and sign into the client’s LinkedIn account.

    1. Wait 10-20 seconds, then you can close the Chrome Profile window

    2. Don’t actually log out of the client’s Chrome Profile, though, as this will disconnect Aware from their LinkedIn!

  • If you ever see a red “please reconnect” banner within Aware, just open up this Chrome Profile again and follow Step 8 again, to reconnect.

5. Go Back To Your Main Chrome Window, To Operate Aware

That Chrome Profile window you used to connect the client's profile? You don't need to have that open all the time. Close the window. You only need to use that Chrome Profile to connect the client's account to Aware. That's it.

Day to day, you'll just use any browser window to operate Aware, knowing that we're connected on the back end to the client's LinkedIn Profile.

We thought a diagram might help. Maybe this is clear, maybe this is confusing. We hope it's the former.
