We get often get questions like the following:
"How often does it refresh the data from LinkedIn when looking at lists? I’m seeing that posts exist on LinkedIn natively, but not always in the platform."
"My list feed is showing posts from 3-18 hours ago as the most recent, does it take some time to populate?"
If you're experiencing this, you're not wrong: Aware doesn't have a real-time LinkedIn feed. Simply put, there's a finite amount that we can ping LinkedIn.
We also put together a strategy video talking about why this probably shouldn't be a big deal for you, and why trying to be "first" or "real time" on LinkedIn is not a great idea:
That being said...
Here are some things to note as you consider this limitation:
Use Aware for 'block commenting' for 10 mins in the morning. The intended use of Aware is for you to get more, and more targeted, engagement done in 80% less time than it would take you to do on LinkedIn directly. So, consider starting your day with writing 20 comments in Aware, and then using LinkedIn natively for one off commenting later in the day.
Use the Community Feed! Engaging with people who post more frequently is a great way to maintain momentum on your own content:
Engagement Strategy Tip: Do You Need Real Time Data? In the way I think about social selling: the post author is going to get a notification of your comment if you engage with them, and commenting on their post 6 hours after it's up vs 2 hours after it's up is actually going to make your comment stand out! While there's some instrumental value in being "first to comment", it's also a tad desperate to always be hyper-available when commenting on people's posts immediately when they're published. I'm a busy guy, and you usually won't find me trying to be 'first'. This goes for the several years I spent social selling long before I co-founded Aware: I just don't have time to be on LinkedIn all the darn time.
Keyword Based Lists Don't Have Such Limitations. In My Lists, try creating lists By Post/Author Keyword instead of adding specific people. You might discover people you weren't aware of this way, and we also have a much greater ability to ping LinkedIn to bring in post data via this method.
Use Influencer Lists. These lists will be updated more frequently. So, if you're trying to do a certain amount of targeted commenting, using the Influencer lists and then selecting a particular dropdown is a great way to do that!
Now, if we could ping LinkedIn more often, would we? Yes. We're always exploring ways to do that a bit better.
Please let us know if we can help with your engagement strategy at all, and I hope these tips helped!
